Reporting to the Vice President, the Energy, ISO and Trading Manager will be responsible for managing the company’s ISO positions, developing/executing short-term trading strategies, and responding to wholesale/retail RFPs.  Successful candidate will have hands on experience with the all aspect of Northeast ISOs as well as demonstrated trading experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Covanta’s ISO activities including bidding, scheduling, reporting, and staff training activities. Support settlement operations as needed.  Address all ISO issues as they arise.
Optimize spot market revenues by developing/executing short-term and DART trading strategies and participating in the various ISO ancillary markets. 
Track Covanta’s capacity, REC, and energy positions and interface with back office on delivery and settlements.
Perform independent market analysis/strategic planning to support marketing and ISO management activities.
Assist manager in understanding customer/market needs and develop products, services, pricing structures to match those needs.  Support transactions from origination to execution. 
Analyze and identify the impact of emerging legislative/regulatory issues on Covanta’s assets and market position 
Support Covanta growth initiatives, especially in the retail and default service areas.

Position Requirements 

Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA with strong financial orientation is preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant career in the electric industry
Demonstrated hands-on ISO NE and PJM experience is a must.  Knowledge of other ISOs is a plus.
Demonstrated abilities to perform transmission tagging and moving power across balancing authorities.
Excellent analytical skills including the ability to create/manage sophisticated pricing models, analyze customer demand, and determine risks/savings associated with proposed transactions.
Strong data management skills including SQL database interface/management, advanced Excel skills
Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex issues, and develop innovative solutions
Ability to respond to RFPs 
Well development communications, leadership and team building skills
Self-driven, focused on clients’ needs/drivers as well as company revenue
NERC and Balancing Authority certification
Working knowledge of trading platforms (ICE and CME), deal capture/risk management systems, OATI, transmission tagging and nMarket
Able to travel as needed
