This position supports the company's mission by providing leadership and guidance in the areas of Environmental, Health, and Safety, implementation of company safety standards, coaching and training of personnel, and delivering sustained improvements in performance. This individual plans, implements, and coordinates safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.

This position also works closely with the General Managers, Senior Technicians and Lead Technicians, and executing responsibilities while enhancing Alpha's core values. Other functions include interface with the customers and other associates within the Alpha organization.



Education: Bachelors of Science degree, or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of five years of industry experience in oil and gas, construction, field services or related industry.
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong mathematical skills, good computer knowledge including networks, Word®, Excel®, and web-based applications, strong customer service, leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to plan and adapt to ever-changing situations quickly. Extensive knowledge required of OSHA, DOT PHMSA, and DOT FMCSA. Working knowledge required of Pipeline Integrity standards including Operator Qualification with working knowledge of third-party administrator systems of ISNetworld and Veriforce.
Physical/Mental: Must be able to carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., handle stressful situations, especially where there are frequent deadlines, andmaintain a positive attitude in a variety of situations.
Working Conditions: Able to work in temperature-controlled office-based environment as well as frequently work outdoors in extreme temperature and weather conditions and terrain. Travel up to 30% required.



The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is delegated sufficient authority to accomplish the requirements of this position. Included in this is the accountability for actions taken and not taken.
In coordination with the President and Department Managers, maintains and implements company policies and procedures to ensure safety standards meet or exceed Alpha's, governmental, and customer requirements.
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is authorized to take corrective action when necessary in circumstances that personnel, processes, or equipment fail to meet Alpha's, governmental, and/or customer's safety expectations.

Administers safety processes required by governmental regulations and customers including coordination through third-party administrators such as: o ISNetworld

PEC Premier
NCMS (DOT and NON-DOT drug and alcohol testing)
DOT federal and state FMCSA

Provides disciplinary feedback to associate's direct supervisor
Inspects facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure regulatory compliance
Ensures safety inspections such as assured grounding, ergonomic work station, hose, fire extinguisher, and others are completed per Alpha, governmental, and customer requirements
Provides performance feedback on associates to Alpha leadership for coaching and/or disciplinary action
Develops and implements improvements to behavior-based safety processes to reduce potential for workplace accidents and incidents
Manages and maintains physical security of Alpha equipment, instruments, vehicles, facilities, other assets and inventory. Monitors and maintains systems such as security cameras and GPS-locator systems.
Leads the Alpha Safety Team and drives associate involvement
Leads incident/accident investigations to determine causes and recommends preventative measures
Provides technical advice and guidance to organization on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes;
Maintains relationships with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated
Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents
Manages departmental spending within budget
Develops and implements New Hire Safety Training Plan

Completes additional assignments as requested by the President
Seeks opportunities to improve safety processes and procedures that will benefit the company and works to develop these as appropriate
Leads the organization's safety meetings
Manages the Emergency Procedures and serves as the Emergency Operations Coordinator during severe weather and other emergency events
Provides safety training and feedback to all associates to enhance overall safety performance by creating, implementing, and administering safety training, including internal and external training through external safety councils such as HASC
Ensures housekeeping is maintained in excellent condition
And, implements systems consistent with the mission and objectives of the ALT.
