Location: Yalesville, CT Number of Positions: TBD Competitive Resources provides a wide variety of services and products that address the total spectrum of needs associated with marketing energy services and Demand Side Management (DSM) programs in residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional markets. Over the last few years, our primary focus has been on residential energy efficiency applications; particularly those aimed at the low-income sector. Salary commensurate with experience. Purpose: Technician will perform inspections of residential homes (1-4 units or multi-family projects) to determine energy efficiency opportunities that can save the homeowner/resident money and make the home more comfortable and safer. Within the crew is a team leader, or senior technician that directs the work of the field technician to allow for effective use of time and equipment. Essential Functions: 1. Conduct detailed energy audits and assessments in addition to customer explanation and educational sessions. 2. The technician inspects the home from attic to basement to assess each space to determine if heat loss areas can be weatherized to reduce heat losses. 3. Quantify energy consumption to establish base lines for energy use. Identify need and prioritize energy saving practices and measures. 4. Collect and analyze field data related to energy usage. 5. Inspect or evaluate buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system. 6. Perform many energy efficiency tasks using blower door and duct blaster technologies to detect and then eliminate the heat loss areas. 7. Educate customers on energy efficiency or answer questions on topics such as the costs of running household appliances and selection of energy efficient appliances. 8. Identify potential energy conservation measures, saving potential and recommend energy efficient technologies or alternate energy sources. 9. Prepare audit reports containing energy analysis results and recommendations for energy cost savings. 10. Conduct work in compliance with BPI Standards, OSHA, and CRI safety procedures as directed by supervisor. 11. Install weatherization program measures such as window and door weather stripping, door sweeps, window and door caulking, attic and basement penetration foaming and caulking, foaming of plumbing chases, sealing around chimneys, , water heater pipe insulation and other incidental repairs. 12. Perform miscellaneous projects and other duties as assigned. Requirements: 1. Excellent customer skills required. 2. All employees must successfully meet training requirements within the first 30 days of employment. 3. BPI Building Analyst and Building Envelope certification preferred. 4. BPI Multi family certification and Commercial experience a plus. 5. Must have ability to work well with a team. 6. Physical ability to carry, climb, balance on a ladder, and frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds (on occasion up to 50 pounds).
