Duties and Responsibilities
With-in the Mechanical Utilities group performs a wide variety of difficult and highly complex engineering, design, analysis, or other technical tasks utilizing current technology and available standards, templates and cataloged products. May provide project supervision for medium to large projects. Implements the Company Procedures Manual while seeking improvements to work processes and design approaches. Develops innovative technical solutions to complex problems. Mentor subordinates.

Experience and Qualifications

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience if allowed by law. Expert knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted office procedures. Typically minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; relevant professional registration preferred.

Special Job Requirements

Proficient with NFPA Standards and National Building and Fire Codes.
Experience in the design of fire water and fixed water spray systems, fire alarm systems, design layouts of fire and gas detection systems and provide hazardous area analysis for petrochemical and infrastructure facilities.
Code interpretation, engineering analysis, fire protection system design (active and passive), hydraulic calculations
Cause and Effect diagrams, Fire & Gas equipment location drawings, fire safety equipment location drawings, Logic Block Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Utility Flow Diagrams
Equipment data sheet development, egress analysis, plan review, specification preparation, fire protection technical reports, fire protection design criteria, hazard analysis,
Equipment selection and requisition, technical bid analysis, procurement, contract packages preparation, fire system and fire alarm commissioning, field inspections, and testing, and Arctic fire protection design development.
