Technical Manager

The Technical Manager’s role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency and alignment with company strategy, commitments and goals.  The individual will establish strong relationships with the functional, technical, and external partners that will drive value across the organization through the delivery of cost-effective and innovative infrastructure solutions. This position requires a dynamic and technically proficient individual that is both flexible and highly motivated. 

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

•           Partner with application owners on operational planning and projects, and organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources.

•           Develop implementation and support plans for infrastructure solutions on time and within budget. Execute server builds and deployments. Revise and maintain plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

•           Assist in establishing long term infrastructure strategies to support growth and stability in the organization.

•           Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.

•           Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the organization.

•           Maintain documentation related to storage, server and systems Infrastructure.

•           Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.

•           Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for server/storage architecture, guidelines, and standards.

Acquisition & Deployment

•           Assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of IT infrastructure systems, including storage, backup/recovery systems, servers, workstations, operating systems, and associated hardware.

•           Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.

•           Analyze existing infrastructure and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the infrastructure and IT systems.

•           Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts.

•           Develop requests for proposal.

•           Coordinate purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the business.

Operational Management

•           Track asset, capacity and availability management for IT infrastructure hardware, software, and  equipment.

•           Oversee Infrastructure-related projects and project portfolio

•           Provide hands-on deployment and systems management as required.

•           Assist in the provisioning of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

•           Bachelors degree in the field of computer science or information systems and 8 related work experience.

•           Certifications in relevant technologies are a plus (i.e. ITIL, Linux, Windows, VMWare, NetApp etc.)

Knowledge & Experience

•           Thorough understanding and experience in the use of computer networks, storage area networks, hardware and software (includes operating systems such as Linux, AS/400, Microsoft Windows 2012  servers, TCP/IP, remote access methods.)

•           Expertise with Active Directory and Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems is required.

•           Knowledge of VMware, Microsoft Exchange, NetApp, CommVault technologies is a plus

•           Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

•           In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

•           Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.

•           Strong understanding of project management principles.
